Ericsson once again successfully participates in a public interoperability demonstration for next generation Ethernet technology. Major service providers and network equipment manufacturers are part of the Isocore interoperability tests aiming to showcase state of the art services in a large multi-vendor network.
The two Ericsson products involved in this proof-of-concept live demonstrations are the Marconi OMS 1400 Optical Multiservice Metro-Edge platform and the Redback SmartEdge® 100 Multiservice Edge Router platform.
During the MPLS 2008 event, 19-22nd October the Isocore proof-of-concept deployment network carried live free internet access traffic for delegates. In addition, today, in Washington, the Isocore interoperability test highlights the integration of MPLS and Carrier Ethernet Services across domain boundaries. Ericsson successfully takes part in the VPLS core and Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) domain with a number of critical scenarios including: Carrier Ethernet Services, operation, administration and maintenance (OAM), and GMPLS controlled Ethernet Label Switching (GELS).
Tor Holmgren, Strategic Product Manager, Broadband Networks at Ericsson says: “By participating in this public interoperability event, Ericsson continues proving that it provides innovative and state-of-the-art technology, with products that can prove their worth in complex inter-vendor network environments”.
