Service layer technologies - developing multimedia services
Description of technology area

The Service layer technologies area within Ericsson Research develops solutions and technologies for services and enablers for person-to-person communication, content access, machine-to-machine services, service to network control, service interfaces, terminal software environments, charging, and service and user management.

As a research engineer in this area you contribute as to the exciting research and development for new multimedia services. With competence in areas such as interactive and personalized TV based on IP technology (IPTV), community communication, SIP/IMS, and prototype design, we pave the way for new multimedia solutions over mobile and fixed accesses.

You will take part in one of our service development or prototype projects that we run to influence and guide Ericsson's business units. Technology is one important aspect to cover, but it is equally important that the research projects also address usability and business aspects. Our ambition is to provide new solutions that simplify end users' everyday lives and increase competitiveness for our customers.

The job is exploratory in its nature and our employees must be able to search for, propose and develop solutions required to demonstrate a multimedia service. The job requires a lot of cooperation with other Ericsson units, as well as with external partners and customers.
