Description of technology area

At Ericsson's IP networks research unit, we perform highly qualified technical research work focused on developing novel networking systems, concepts and architecture, as well as a number of different networking aspects - such as mobility, quality of service, traffic modeling and performance. Additionally, security, sensor networking, future internet revolutions and network management are four increasingly important research areas that are covered within IP Networks research. We are currently developing an evolution for 3GPP core networks (SAE and beyond) and network convergence. Furthermore, to carry this out, we are obliged to participate in international research programs (such as EU projects), to present results at conferences and seminars, and to promote Ericsson's ideas in the regional and global standardization agencies, including ETSI, 3GPP, OMA and IETF. In addition, prototyping is performed in several areas to develop and make proof of concept.

As a research engineer in this area you are skilled in the area of security, IP networking (future internet), sensor networking and network management. The role will involve developing new solutions and prototyping, and will require a lot of cooperation with different Ericsson units, as well as with external partners and customers.
