Broadband access and transport networks
Description of technology area

The Broadband and Transport area within Ericsson Research covers technologies and solutions for high speed connectivity networks, including network architecture and topologies, edge functionality, quality of service, control functionality, fixed mobile convergence issues and the base technologies for fiber optic, copper line DSL and microwave links. We also work with end-to-end system and service solutions to validate our technologies - for example, in the case of high-definition-TV delivery. We work in large, common projects together with our foreign research branches in, for example, Italy, Hungary and Canada.

As a research engineer in this area you join the Broadband and transport research team as we now set out to build the technology and solutions for Ericsson's expansion on the broadband market. We work with carrier-grade Ethernet networks, next-generation fiber-to-the-home and transmission networks, future digital home technologies (residential gateways, home networks, and so on), video/media delivery and network gateways (edge routers, and so on).

The role includes various software and/or hardware implementation aspects, standardization work, end-to-end network integration, network modeling and architecture studies.
